Silk Care Instructions

Silk is a delicate and luxurious fabric that requires special care to maintain its quality and appearance. Here are some general guidelines for caring for silk:

HAND WASHING

Hand wash silk by filling a basin with lukewarm water and adding a gentle detergent. Submerge the silk garment, gently swish it for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly with cool water. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric.

WASHING MACHINE

Wash silk in a washing machine using a gentle detergent, placing the garment in a mesh bag. Select a delicate cycle with cold water and a low or no-spin setting. Remove promptly and air dry flat. Avoid fabric softeners.

RINSING

Rinse silk by gently running cool water over the garment until all detergent is thoroughly removed. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric to prevent damage.

DRYING

Dry silk by laying the garment flat on a clean towel, then gently roll the towel with the garment inside to remove excess water. Unroll and lay the silk flat on a drying rack away from direct sunlight. Avoid wringing, twisting, or hanging the silk to dry.

IRONING

Iron silk by setting the iron to the lowest heat setting. Turn the garment inside out and place a pressing cloth between the iron and the silk. Gently press without applying too much pressure. Always iron while the fabric is slightly damp for best results.

STEAMING

Iron silk with a steamer by hanging the garment and gently steaming from a distance of about 6 inches. Move the steamer in continuous motions to avoid concentrating heat on one spot. Allow the garment to air dry completely before wearing or storing.

STORING

Store silk by keeping it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Use breathable fabric bags or pillowcases to protect it from dust while allowing air circulation.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

1. Store with lavender sachets to repel moths.
2. Air out silk garments regularly to keep them fresh.
3. Use silk-specific detergents for washing.
4. Roll rather than fold to minimize creases.
5. Avoid wearing jewelry that can snag the fabric.
